During their internship at the Cudaio, the volunteers contributed to the activities of promotion and dissemination of organs and tissues donation, carried out a photographic record of the Regional Centre for Hemotherapy, and designed and developed a comprehensive survey on knowledge and behavior of the adult population about blood donation.
THE EXPERIENCE
The Deputy Director of the Cudaio in Rosario, Silvio Pulcinelli, expressed, “While in the agency we are used to working with volunteers, and many of our initiatives of promotion are based in a strong commitment with the community, this experience with foreigners has had a particular wealth".
Pulcinelli indicated, “The participation of the three young men was extended and they addressed issues that required greater tracking and depth;” “they made the internship with eager and talent".
THE VOLUNTEERS
They are: Micaela Trujillo, Leonela Cabrera, both Ecuadorian, and Diego Acedo from Brazil, who came to the headquarters of Cudaio Rosario thanks to the international exchange of the global organization Aiesec programme. The Ecuadorians are studying business engineering, in Quito, and the Brazilian volunteer is a specialist in marketing.
About his experience, Diego expressed that he was interested in "the idea of working in the area of health because it is an important and necessary issue in any part of the world" and said, “The Cudaio gave us freedom to suggest ideas and tasks".
"I met a great team work, that counts with a technical and communicational updated management system;" “I also saw a major commitment in the professionals I met," said the young man from Brazil.
As regards the general picture, Leonela said, "I did not know much about donation" and "I did not expect such a magnificent organization, with so much knowledge to carry out such impressive work".
The young woman from Ecuadorian also said that her experience at the Cudaio changed her "way of thinking donation and transplants, because people need the others and in Argentina, it is so easy to help only expressing your will".
On her part, Micaela said she met an institution with "huge objective", where each person had their highly important activities", “although most of the activities have a low profile, during the process of transplant each one is vital to carry to out something so important as giving life".
