Santa Fe beekeepers take part in an international trade fair in Turkey

The Ministry of production, through its Secretariat for Livestock and Global Santa Fe, accompanies companies from the province to Apimondia. Out of the nine Argentine companies involved, five are from Santa Fe.

Santa Fe beekeepers take part in an international trade fair in Turkey

The Ministry of Production, through its Secretariat for Livestock and the Agency for Investment and International Trade (Santa Fe Global), promotes the participation of bee keepers at the International Congress of Apiculture - Apimondia, a recognized exhibition of the sector that took place in Istanbul, Turkey.

The provincial delegation, headed by the Executive Director of Santa Fe Global, Débora Marini, participated together with the National Ministry of Agro-Industry and producers from other provinces.

The Undersecretary of Livestock, Raúl Stefanazzi, stressed that out of nine Argentine companies that are distributing our products, five are from Santa Fe. "They represent different links in the honey chain: beehives, fractioning, mead, and cabin production", he concluded.

SANTA FE HONEY
All Santa Fe honey value chain is represented in Apimondia. The members are: Colmenares Argentina, dedicated to the production of organic honey from islands; the Asociación Nacional de Cabañas Apícolas de Malabrigo (National Association of Malabrigo Beekeepers); the co-operative Apiuni of San Jerónimo Norte, which produces mead; the Cooperativa Cosar; and a bulk-breaker from Rosario.

The participation in the fair also included a technical tour, instance in which the Santa Fe delegation visited producers and local industries; and exchanged experiences in which the progress of the Provincial Beekeeping Program was shared.

MAIN ACTORS
Leonardo Gorreta is a beekeeper born in San Lorenzo and now developing his activities in the Rosario node. He has a room of extraction in Pueblo Andino and beehives in the prairie and area of islands. About Apimondia he stressed: "The fair widely meets expectations. The presence of Santa Fe is much noted and the representatives of the sector from other provinces recognize the work that is being carried forward in our territory in beekeeping".

"The production of mead by entrepreneurs from San Jerónimo Norte had a big success at the fair; the product aroused much curiosity and good reviews." Other products offered by Santa Fe presented at the fair was the organic honey, which has had a very good acceptance among the visitors," he added.

Gustavo Tessini, representative of a beekeeping cabin of Malabrigo, referred to the Organization of the Argentina stand and stressed, "The presence of Santa Fe is notorious. We have been visited by many people from different parts of the world interested in our honey and the export of live material. We are very satisfied with the result obtained in this fair".

ABOUT APIMONDIA
The International Federation of Beekeeping Associations is a global organization, whose main objective is to establish relationships between people and partnerships engaged in beekeeping. To publicize all the informative and scientific information on the subject, it publishes a magazine called Apiacta, and every two years organizes a Congress called Apimondia, this being a meeting between scientists and beekeepers who gather in different countries of the five continents.
