Governor Miguel Lifschitz participated in the dinner party for the 197th anniversary of the independence of Peru, organized by the Brotherhood of the Lord of the Miracles in Rosario.

Lifschitz greeted the authorities and the Peruvian community that lives in the city. "Thanks for keeping this feeling so strong that it unites Peruvians and Argentines over more than two centuries," he said.

"Peru and Argentina were always close, with a strong affection between the two peoples and a link of solidarity that became present every time both countries have needed each other," the governor added.

The independence of Peru was a political process that took place during the early nineteenth century in the former Viceroyalty of Peru. It began approximately about 1810 with the first revolts organized by Masonic lodges; and ended on July 28, 1821 with the Declaration of the Independence of Peru by General José de San Martín in Lima.

"We have a great challenge in our South America, perhaps that old San Martin and Bolivar project is still in effect, there are still many people who believe in the need for the integration of South American countries, to deepen our political, institutional, economic and cultural links. Perhaps in this globalized world of great players our countries are too small, and we need to unite and generate strength and a common project, "remarked Lifschitz.

The dinner was held in Centro Castilla and was attended by the President of the Brotherhood of the Lord of Miracles, Vicente Ramírez; the Consul of Peru in Rosario, Felix Zegarra Ponce; the Mayor of Rosario, Mónica Fein; Provincial deputy Clara Garcia, among other provincial authorities.
