On Tuesday, the Government of Santa Fe launched the tender process for maintenance and repair work on various sections of more than 4,500 kilometres of provincial roads. The initiative comprises six tenders and involves an investment of over 52 billion pesos.
In this first stage, the technical bids were reviewed and, once this stage has been completed, the financial bids will be opened. The event took place in the Auditorium of the Government House and was attended by the Minister of Public Works, Lisandro Enrico, and the administrator of the Provincial Roads Authority (DPV), Pablo Seghezzo.
According to reports, the plan will be implemented across 12 simultaneous work fronts – two for each contract – which will allow for coordinated progress across different parts of the province.
Enrico highlighted the scale of the investment and its impact: “This is important news that we want the people of Santa Fe to be aware of. We know there are problems with the roads, but there is also a clear commitment to invest in repairing them.” In this regard, he highlighted the contrast with the situation on national roads: “Whilst we suffer from neglect by the national government, the Province is allocating resources to maintain its road network”.
The minister also emphasised the transparency of the processes: “We want to demonstrate that these projects are possible, that through public, open and transparent tenders, we can secure good prices and carry out necessary works”.
Finally, he highlighted the comprehensive nature of the programme: “It is a comprehensive and systemic plan, which includes work on more than different paved roads, covering both short and long stretches. This is not about complete resurfacing but rather repairs aimed at resolving specific problems and improving the durability of the roads.”
Roads that last longer

For his part, Seghezzo explained that one of the key elements of the programme is crack sealing, a low-cost technique that extends the service life of the road surface. “It prevents water infiltration and the formation of potholes, which translates into greater durability for the roads,” he said.
He also indicated that, if the tendering process proceeds as planned, work will begin within 60 to 90 days. The prioritisation of road sections was determined based on the state of deterioration and traffic volume, with particular attention given to roads with the highest volume of lorries and private vehicles.

The six tenders are distributed by region: Pothole Repair 1 covers Reconquista and Vera, with an investment of over 14 billion pesos; Pothole Repair 2 covers San Cristóbal and Tostado, with almost 5.7 billion; Pothole Repair 3 focuses on Rafaela, with around 6.9 billion; Pothole Repair 4 includes San Javier and La Capital, with over 8.5 billion; Pothole Repair 5 covers the El Trébol area, also exceeding 8.5 billion; and Pothole Repair 6 covers Rosario and Venado Tuerto, with an investment of over 7 billion.
