The province begins with the Plan of Expansion of the Airport International Rosario which will require an investment of $550 million. The trading platform will be doubled and the number of aircraft parking positions will rise to accompany the operational growth of the air terminal.

"We have taken the decision to drive the growth of the terminal infrastructure through a strong investment," said the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport of the province, José León Garibay.

The work provides, in addition, the conditioning of its runways and taxiways, and the installing of a modern system of marking following the recommendations of the international aviation organizations. The enlargement works were scheduled to start in October, without affecting the schedule of regular flights.

"The new platform - continued Galindez - will have the capacity to accommodate a higher number of aircraft; it will have eight parking positions.  It will also be disassembled the present system of buoyage system and replaced by one of LED last generation".

"These works were planned to run in the coming months without affecting the operation of flights," said the Chairman of the terminal.

The works at the runways will optimize the condition of pavements and margins of the sector of circulation and parking of aircraft, raising their resistance. Its implementation is a fundamental pillar for the managing of current and future flights. In addition, the RIA will improve the existing terminal for passenger comfort.

Thus, in the coming months, the terminal will start works of enlargement and adaptation of space in the lounges of domestic and international flights. Also, the number of parking spaces/garages will be increased and new options for ground transportation linking the passengers will be developed to achieve a more agile way to the center of the city and elsewhere in the region.

"The doubling of the platform area is the beginning of an upgrading and growth plan which will transform the airport, generating a greater connectivity for those who get in and out from Rosario," said Galindez.

"In the same way it will boost the development of the air cargo benefiting the commercial activity of the region. This reality requires a plan of investment of more than $2 billion for the next four years. This expansion will be done with its own resources and of the provincial government, but we have also begun negotiations with the national Government for the purposes of getting funds for its financing," said Galindez.
