The Provincial Government announced the expansion of commercial flights between Rosario International Airport (ROS) and Guarulhos International Airport in São Paulo (Brazil). This route, which was resumed on 30 December and currently operates through Latam Airlines with four weekly flights, will increase to six weekly flights starting next July (from Friday to Wednesday), and daily flights starting in September.
In this regard, the Minister of Productive Development, Gustavo Puccini, stated that ‘we are transforming Rosario's connectivity to consolidate it as the major logistics hub of the Centre and Littoral,’ adding that "today we are connecting the centre of the country more efficiently with the world, boosting not only tourism, but also employment and the export of our local production. More flights mean more development and a Rosario that is fully integrated into global markets."
The official also emphasised the importance of the modernisation works carried out at ROS during 2025, which included the complete repaving of the 3,000-metre runway and the expansion of the flexible terminal, which adds more than 10,500 square metres, two jet bridges, escalators and a renovated international sector.
The Jorge Newbery Avenue was also widened and a state-of-the-art LED lighting system was installed, allowing the terminal to process Category III flights (an airport with this category means that safe landings and take-offs can be made even in conditions of almost zero visibility).
All these tasks, which began on 20 September and continued until the end of December, required an investment of £100 million, which was financed entirely with provincial resources.
Record January
Following the reopening of the airport, the first month of operation began with a record number of passengers: more than 71,000 passengers used the provincial terminal to connect to more than 12 domestic and international destinations.
In this regard, the Secretary of Transport and Logistics, Mónica Alvarado, recalled that "currently, ROS is operating more than 70 weekly flights to those 12 destinations, with four airlines -Gol, Latam, Aerolíneas Argentinas and Copa Airlines- operating more than 50 weekly flights to international destinations such as Rio de Janeiro, Maceió, Cabo Frio, Florianópolis, São Paulo, Panama and Lima, and also has five domestic destinations: Aeroparque, Ezeiza, Iguazú, Bariloche and Mar del Plata- with 20 flights".
Alvarado noted that "many of these destinations serve as connection hubs, allowing passengers to continue their journey to other points in South America, Central America, the Caribbean, North America and even Europe, significantly expanding internThe Jorge Newbery Avenue was also widened and a state-of-the-art LED lighting system was installed, allowing the terminal to process Category III flights (an airport with this category means that safe landings and take-offs can be made even in conditions of almost zero visibility).
