New Brazil route: ‘Rosario’s connectivity keeps growing, and this flight reflects that success,’ said Puccini

Rosario International Airport is set to launch a new direct service to Maceió, one of north-eastern Brazil’s leading tourist destinations, with weekly flights scheduled for January and February 2027.

The initiative is part of the provincial strategy to strengthen international air links and support Rosario Airport’s sustained growth.

The Government of Santa Fe, through the Ministry of Productive Development, has announced the launch of a new direct flight between Rosario and Maceió, in northern Brazil, which will operate during the 2027 summer season. The new route will operate once a week between January and February and will be operated and marketed by the tour operator OLA.

Tickets are now available at travel agencies throughout the province, allowing travellers to plan their holidays in advance and access financing options.

During the presentation, the Minister for Productive Development, Gustavo Puccini, highlighted the growth that Rosario International Airport has been experiencing and welcomed the continuation of a connection that had already been offered during the last summer season.

“This confirms the ever-increasing connectivity we are seeing from the airport. It is a flight that was already available last year and is returning as a result of its success,” said the minister.

Puccini also pointed out that the announcement was made well in advance to make it easier to organise trips. “We wanted to make this announcement early so that families can pay for their holidays in instalments and plan a few days’ rest over the summer with peace of mind,” he explained.

The minister attributed the growth in flight availability to a strategy of collaboration between the public and private sectors. In this regard, he stated that the introduction of new routes is the result of ongoing coordination between the Province, tourism companies and airport operators.

Positive results and forecasts

Rosario International Airport chairman Pío Drovetta highlighted the strong results recorded in the first months of the year and said the airport will continue expanding its network of destinations.

“Strengthening airline partnerships and adding flights enabled Rosario to set a historic record in January, February and March, with over 70,000 passengers passing through the airport each month,” he said.

The official also noted that the airport operated up to 25 weekly flights during the peak season and assured that the aim is to continue growing. “We are aiming for much more. New destinations will certainly be added, and we are continuing to work on improving connectivity, not only with OLA but also with other airlines that may begin operating in Rosario,” he stated.

Speaking on behalf of the tour operator, Javier Vázquez provided details on the marketing of the packages. He explained that the estimated cost is around $1,500 and that payment can be spread over six or seven instalments, depending on the chosen travel dates.

He also highlighted the success of the scheme during the previous season. “On this very flight, we carried around 2,000 passengers, which demonstrates the interest in this destination and in the possibility of travelling directly from Rosario,” he noted.

Finally, the Secretary of Tourism for the State of Alagoas, Paulo Kugelmas, welcomed the continuation of the air link between the two cities and highlighted the strategic importance of the route in strengthening tourism ties between Brazil and Argentina.

“It is an honour for our state to once again have this direct flight between Rosario and Maceió, a journey of just five hours that brings our communities even closer together,” he said. He also expressed his gratitude for the joint efforts made by the Government of Santa Fe, the tourism sector and the operating company to bring this initiative to fruition.
